Al Herfst

Associate

Al Herfst practiced law in Alberta from 1978 until retiring from practice in 2009. His practice focused on corporate, commercial and financing work for a variety of business clients. In 1989 Al acquired an interest in a group of companies operating a nationwide wholesale distribution business and a chain of corporate owned and franchised retail stores. Al was CEO of the Retail division, Vice-President of the wholesale Company as well as Corporate Counsel for the group. He has done extensive training and business consulting for franchisees and has negotiated and implemented a number of corporate acquisitions and divestitures.

Al became an associate of Capital Business Solutions in 2003. He worked closely with Bill Thompson providing business consulting services including financing, divestitures and equipment financing. He also owns and operates an equipment leasing company.

Al has been active in a number of charitable organizations, served as President of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce and a director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded the "Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada" by the Governor General of Canada "in recognition of significant contributions to compatriots, community and to Canada."
